Scion of McDonough?s 1st Annual ?DIME SHOW?

Scion Car Clubs from all around the Southeast and beyond will roll into McDonough, Georgia on Saturday, June 6, 2008 at 10am for the 1st Annual Scion DIME SHOW.

The car show is hosted by Scion of McDonough and all proceeds will benefit the Henry County March of Dimes March for Babies. Visitors can view the cars from 11a.m. until 5 p.m.

"Scion of McDonough and the local Scion Car Clubs understand the importance of the March of Dimes; making sure that one day all babies are born healthy? stated Kara Barkley, Customer Relations Manager of Scion of McDonough. "It started off as a way to raise money and to show off some wonderful Scion vehicles, but it now has morphed into what we hope is an annual event that generates awareness and money".

Over 100 Scion vehicles are expected to be on display during this event. Introduced in March 2002 at the New York Auto Show, the Scion brand hosts 4 distinct models: xA, xB, xD, and tC; with car clubs numbering in the thousands all over the United States.

Awards will be given out to the Best of Show, Best Interior, Best Sound, Best Female Scion, Longest Distance Traveled, Most Represented Car Club, and Driving Course Challenge.

In addition to the display area, there will be a ?Swap Meet? area where booth space will be available for vendors especially those selling automotive parts and accessories. There will also be raffles and giveaways, live music from DJ Miami Myztro & the Live Crew of 98.1FM, and local acts performing. LifeSouth Community Blood Center will be on site taking donations. A local softball team, Down-N-Dirty Ladies Softball (www.down-n-dirtysoftball.com) is slated to handle the concessions and even offer car washes.

The pre-registration fee to enter a vehicle in the show is a $10.00 donation open to the first 10 cars only. After that the donation is $15.00 per car until Friday, June 5th. Vendor booths must be reserved prior to the show. Vehicles can be registered the day of the show from 8am to 9:30am for a $20.00 donation. To receive a registration form or vendor information, please send an email request to scionofmcdonough@yahoo.com or contact Kara Barkley or Stanley Waldrop at 770-288-3755.

The DIME SHOW is sponsored by Scion of McDonough, Southeast Toyota, LifeSouth Community Blood Center, March of Dimes, and Down-N-Dirty Ladies Softball.

Scion of McDonough is located at 144 Highway 81 West ( I-75 Exit 218 ). Admission to the car show is open to the public and is by donation. Your donation allows you to become an official DIME SHOW Judge.

Salt City Saturday Night / Teddy Bear Patrol

Ok here is the update to the event that I am sending out to all the club and places that participated with us. It was a fabulous event got lots of coverage and just a great time was had by everyone.

<<Start Update Here>>
Salt City Saturday Night / Teddy Bear Patrol

UPDATE:
Ok here is a quick Overview of how this event was. We had 50+ cars show up from I am guessing around 5-6 different clubs. There were I am going to estimate at least 80 maybe even close to 100 people there. We collected about 200 bears and other stuffed animals and provided them to the Salt Lake County Sheriff. We gave away all 50 of the free meals that we were giving to those who brought donations. We also threw in a few here and there to people who came to support others in the event. Iceberg provided some t-shirts and hats to give away. Of course we also had some Scion swag to pass out to the Scion owners and gave a few Scion things out to the members of the other clubs.

We got a visit from Russ Wall the Mayor of Taylorsville who brought in a donation with his wife. He couldn?t stay to eat but had a shake and talked to a few people. We had a Deputy from the Sheriff?s office and a Detective from the Taylorsville Police there to help us collect the donations and to also get to know some of the car club people in the area. All in all it was a most EXCELLENT event. In fact we also got a visit from channel 4 news and they did a news piece on the Teddy Bear Patrol which aired last night May 9 09 on the 10 pm news. As soon as it is available online or I figure out how to pull it off my computer since I recorded it I will post that. Also Iceberg tagged me and asked me to plan a couple more of these to do at their other stores. So we will be doing a couple more of them before the end of the year.

We had a great Scikotic / Scion turnout, everyone had a good time and we got to meet some other car enthusiasts and make some new friends. The other clubs that participated had a great turnout as well. Everyone had a good time and it was a feeling of mutual camaraderie. I want to thank all the clubs that came and help to make this event as successful as it was. We appreciate your participation and hope that you will want to join us for future events. I tried to get around and make sure everyone there felt welcomed and was having a good time. If I missed some people please accept my apologies. I was kind of running around like a crazy man (Scikotic) trying to make sure everyone was taken care of with meals and other stuff.

Again thanks to all of you for helping to make this such a success.

Sincerely,
Bill Jones
Salt Lake Scikotics
Chapter President
<<End Update Here>>

Thanks to everyone who helped and participated.
